Hi, I'm Joel 👋🏻

Professionally, I'm a full-stack software engineer. My professional experience is in Node.js, React, Typescript, Postgres, and AWS.

I particularly enjoy taking projects from 0 -> 1, including project management, architecture, and development.

Currently, I work at Ashby, a startup building the future of recruiting software. I started in 2020 as the 6th employee, and have been very happy to grow with the company.

I enjoy learning, and am always happy to pick up the right tool for the job, though often I find the right tool is the one you know.

Personally, I am from the Boston area and went to Tufts University.

Now, I live in SF. I host a lot of silly events, including:
Weekly line dancing in my garage, Murder Mystery parties, and more.

I love the outdoors, particularly appreciate Bay Area weather, and I'm a generally goofy and positive person :)

    For 9 months after graduating from Tufts, I wanted to do something a bit different than HubSpot (where I was a co-op).

    So, I joined a small E-commerce company called M.Gemi

    There, I was on a team of 3 (which quickly became a team of 2).

    Some things I got to work on:

    • Making 1000 small improvements to the site
    • Helping migrate a custom system to Shopify
    • Working on page load times
    • Instrumenting A/B testing
